Getting there & Getting around

Getting there

The E40 runs from Brussels via Leuven to Liège. An hour's drive along the E314 gets you to the province of Limburg, as well as Maastricht and Aachen. Leuven's busy railway station runs frequent trains to Brussels (20min), the airport (15min), Ghent (1hr), Antwerp (50min), Mechelen (20min), Liege (1hr), Bruges (1.5hr), the Belgian coast (2hr) or Mons (1.5hr). This station has a twice-hourly connection with Brussels National airport.

Getting around

With its small city area, much of Leuven can be explored on foot or bike. A number of bus lines operate, centred on the train station and the stop at the Fochplein. Services operate out of the city to Meerdaalwoud, Heverleebos, Campus Arenberg or the hospital Gasthuisberg. A local taxi service runs around the city.
