Getting there
The Stuttgart international airport (SGT) is served by most major domestic and international airlines, including GermanWings. It's also conveniently close to the city (13km/8mi). A 30-minute train ride will take you right to the centre of town. Frequent train service connects Stuttgart to all major German and many international cities, as well as to smaller, regional destinations. Buses are a cheaper if slower option. If you're daring enough try out the nearby Autobahns - two major routes (the A8 and A81) pass the city.
Getting around
You can get mobile the eco-friendly way with a bike. The S-Bahn and U-Bahn let you bring your cycle along except, on some lines, during rush hour. The ADFC (Breitscheidstrasse 82) provides maps and information on organised rides, but opening hours are limited. Parking throughout the city centre is metered and underground lots ain't cheap . Avis, Europcar and Hertz have car-hire offices at Terminal Two at the airport and at the Hauptbahnhof. Taxis are pricey. Stuttgart's public transport network offers a great-value day pass.
