(Report Problem)If anyone had told me I'd fall in love with a small, quiet town, I would have thought they were insane but in Astoria, it's hard to resist. With beautiful river and mountain views from almost every street, to safe neighborhoods full of friendly people and amusing characters, Astoria represents everything good about small town life. People who love the big city won't be without their enjoyments either. I'd put the restaurants and hotels against most in New York City and the Liberty theater, while not yet attracting the upper eschelons of show business, is a stunning building that turns a good concert into an extraordinary experience. The town is a charming mix of old, salt of the earth fishing and canning families and new groups of artists attracted and inspired by the atmosphere. Together, they make Astoria feel like a progressive and idealistic little town with it's feet planted firmly on the ground.
