Maritim Hotel Cologne and conference center on the banks of the Rhine could pass as a small city in itself. The impressive glass-roofed entrance hall feels more like an elegant shopping arcade than a hotel foyer, while the exterior design is reminiscent of a Parisian house. The service and facilities leave no wish unfulfilled. Located close to the Rhein and just a few minutes walk from the Altstadt, the Maritim makes the perfect base from which to explore the city.

What I did dislike about it the most was a cleaning lady who was would knock on our door at 7.15 in the morning shouting "household!!!" and open the door with her own keycard just to say "Oh, sorry". She looked very surprised with the fact that we still were in the room wearing about nothing. The same lady kicked us out of the room at 10.30 (instead of 12.00) on the day of departure. So you could be surprised why I'm giving this hotel 4**** after all. Just because everything else was perfect. Special compliment to the breakfast personnel.

Business hotel convenient for tourists

The Maritim is a business hotel (lots of people in suits milling around) that reminds one of a Hilton or Marriott in the U.S. The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the Dom (cathedral), shops, and restaurants. In fact, we upgraded our room an extra 20 euros to get a dramatic view of the Dom. Check-in was efficient. The rooms are clean and nice, though lacking in details you'd find in a fancier hotel. The breakfast buffet was overwhelming, offering plenty of German and "American-style" food; there was sausage, cheese, muesli, fruit, and much more. Overall, a nice place to stay.
