Named by Travel & Leisure Magazine as one of the best hotels in the United States, this historic Nob Hill giant dates from 1907 and is one of San Francisco's grandest accommodations. The lobby, refurbished into an Edwardian fantasy in ivory and gold, features an ornate marble staircase, clusters of plush furniture, and a shopping arcade brimming with luxurious gift ideas. The Grand Ballroom is in tune with the rest of the hotel and holds business meetings and prestigious get-togethers.

This is a great hotel in a great location. Right on top of Nob Hill, with access to the cable cars, this hotel is nice for both business and leisure travellers. The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly, but the location is really why you would stay at the Fairmont. It is a nice option for business travellers who work in the financial district.

The location is perfect, on top of Nob Hill and our room had a fantastic view of San Francisco. The cable cars are only a few asteps away. Really enjoyed the classic taste of old San Francisco.
06 Jun 2005 | foodandwineguy2004What a place to celebrate your wedding night! Make sure to upgrade to a suite (worth the extra $$) and ask to stay in the "original part" of the hotel. The new towers are nice, but the original building/rooms are outragous. The hallways are super wide (to accomodate the hoop skirts in the early 1900's) and the rooms are fabulous. Also, even the rooms in the older part of the building were recently upgraded and are absolutely stunning.
