It was built in 1840 by King Ludwig I's architect Maffei to provide first-class lodgings for visitors to the nearby palace. The Montgelas Palace, which the hotel bought in 1969, was initially a Minister's residence and later became the seat of the royal administration. First Class Service

We stayed at this luxurious hotel during our Christmas break. The service was beyond excellent! The staff tried to accommodate us as much as possible with our 2 young children. This is a true landmark in Munich and I highly recommend staying here when visiting Germany. This hotel has a lot of history.
